PREESALL TOWN COUNCIL NEWS

The council is now operating by holding its meetings by Zoom video conference. Details can be found on the council's noticeboards and websites. There is still an opportunity for members of the public to raise matters of concern or view proceedings. Anyone wishing to join the meeting should contact the clerk on the number below.

 

Lengthsman Vacancy

Post available: Preesall Town Council lengthsman.

Base location: Preesall.

Responsible to: Town Clerk, Preesall Town Council (line manager)

Hours: 25 hours per week to be worked flexibly dependent on time of year and weather. Occasional additional hours may be required.

Salary: £12 per hour on a services contract (self-employed).

 

Overall responsibilities: To carry out the duties of Preesall Town Council lengthsman within the parish boundaries of Preesall, providing a focused level of service, resulting in improvement to the environment within Preesall and Knott End.

Duties and Person Specification: These are defined in the job description and person specification available from the Town Clerk, Alison May, by email - clerk@preesalltowncouncil.org

Knowledge: Knowledge of Preesall and Knott End would be an advantage.

 

Successful applicants need to have full public liability insurance cover to a minimum of three million pounds and will be expected to provide their own equipment, including relevant safety wear, basic signage and transport. The council will provide some signage and a wheeled cart for litter picking duties.

Barton Square Clock

Despite having been serviced in February the clock's battery has failed. The council is negotiating with the clock supplier regarding a replacement battery for the short term and more substantial refurbishment in the long term.

 

Benches

Approval has been given for the purchase of a new bench outside the cemetery on Cemetery Lane. Two benches on the sea wall have also been identified as needing to be replaced.

 

Telephone box - Park Lane
The box has been decommissioned by BT and is now owned by Preesall Council. The plan is to give it a deep clean and secure it for now. The council intends to run a competition with the public being given the opportunity to suggest the future use of the box. Watch out for further details in August.

 

Next meeting

Preesall Town Council will meet next on Monday 10 August at 7.00pm. This is a public meeting and residents are welcome. An opportunity to raise matters is available. Login details can be obtained from the clerk.
