PREESALL TOWN COUNCIL NEWS
Councillors and villagers have paid tribute to the memory of Gordon McCann, who gave many years of dedicated public service as a councillor for Preesall and Wyre.
A very well-attended funeral service for Cllr McCann, who died in March, at St Oswald's Church in Preesall honoured his selfless contribution to public life over many years.
Preesall Town Council wishes to place on record its deep gratitude for all Cllr McCann's work on behalf of our community.
Preesall and Knott End is once again entering this year's best-kept village competition, for which the judging will commence on June 8.
After last year's success, Preesall and Knott End's entry will be in the champions category.
Litter picks are scheduled to take place at noon on the third Monday of each month for the rest of the year, volunteers to meet at the Youth and Community Centre.
Timings on the 2c route are to be altered from June after concerns over noise from buses idling outside the Black Bull pub.
This follows a complaint to Blackpool Transport from a resident concerned over noise at the stop, where buses wait if they are running early.
On June 23 a rescheduled timetable will be introduced in an effort to cut down on such delays.
No Preesall Town Council election will take place in May as 12 nominations mean all candidates are voted in unopposed.
Joining the council in May will be Andrew Cropper, Jane Cropper, Tony Johnson, Kath Nicholls, Anne Tarpey-Black, David Williams and Karen Woods. Current councillors Rodney Black, Rosina Lawson, Jean Mutch and Tom Reilly are standing down. Grateful thanks go to them for their service.
Six candidates are standing to represent Preesall and Knott End on Wyre Council in the poll on May 2, with European elections on May 23.
This year's annual town meeting, which all are invited to attend, will take place on May 20 at 6.00pm at the Youth and Community Centre, Preesall. Civic Sunday is at St.Oswald's church on May 26 with wreath laying by the Mayor at 10.00am, followed by a church service at 10.30am.
